PiYo Is Coming!

If any of y’all follow me regularly, you’ll know that at the moment I’m kicking my own booty with high-intensity, super satisfying workouts.

I LOVE getting a good night’s sleep, and let me tell you, lately I’ve been sleeping like the dead. (And that’s saying something for most people I know, much less parents with young children.) #WIN

Even though I love a good post-workout exhaustion, I will be the first one to admit that high-impact workouts (even with good form) can take their toll on our knees and other joints.

For anyone who hankers for an intense workout sans the high impact, I’m THRILLED to tell you that something AMAZING is on the horizon:

What the Heck is “PiYo?”

PiYoAs you may or may not have guessed, PiYo is a workout comprised of Pilates and yoga moves.

Now don’t even for one second think that because it’s low impact that it won’t be a good or intense workout.

Pilates, for one, is a very common practice for ballet dancers among others and it’s also the root of many exercises you’ll find in “newer” workout systems like The Bar Method and more.

Plus, if you’ve EVER seen a dancer’s body, you know they must be doing something right for their physiques to look the way they do. #amazing

The creator of PiYo, Chalene Johnson, says, “PiYo gives you hardcore definition, intense calorie burn, and allover strength—without weights, without jumps, and without destroying your body.”

Pilates and yoga both work muscles you never knew you had, and I’m the first one who’ll tell you that using your own body weight as resistance is an INCREDIBLE way to get ripped.

An even better perk? When you do this kind of body weight resistance and strength training, the result isn’t bulky muscles: It’s long and lean muscles with a deep-rooted strength.

Although I hadn’t incorporated yoga into my life at any other time than when I was doing P90X, (you may have already heard me say this on Facebook), but… I am SO HAPPY to be reunited with it in P90X3!!!

We’ll remain partners in life FOREVER! Seriously, it’s SO GOOD!!
